Bernard W. Stanek, Pennsylvania State Police
(ret.), “was Born in 1935 in Cambria County,
PA. He is the youngest son of Polish
immigrants. When he was about 5 years old,
some baby chicks were stolen from his
parents chick pen. A Pennsylvania state
trooper was called to investigate, when he
saw the shiny boots and big gun he decided
that's what he wanted to be when he grew up.
After spending 2 years in the US Army, Mr.
Stanek graduated from the PA State Police
Academy in Hershey PA and became a State
Trooper in 1962. He was promoted from
traffic detail to the Criminal division in
1966, transferred to the Vice Detail in
1968, then to the Strike Force in 1973. In
1976 he returned to the Criminal Division
and remained there until he retired in 1990.
He loved his job, especially being an
advocate for justice on the victims behalf.
Mr. Stanek currently lives in Canonsburg, PA
with his wife and best friend of 57 years.
He enjoys spending time with his 4 grown
children and their spouses but especially
