Marsili is the author of Excessive Forces, A Pittsburgh Police Thriller.
According to the book description, “Excessive Forces, A Pittsburgh
Police Thriller by real-life police detective Dennis Marsili who draws his characters from his own world and
life experiences, taking readers into realities normally hidden from public view. Pittsburgh police officer Guy Ruggerio is
a proud, competitive, overachiever who loves his job, his police buddies, and his city of steel. But all of that collapses
into despair on the night he is involved in a line-of-duty shooting and set-up for destruction. Detective Joe Massimo is fiercely
protective of the younger Ruggerio and he is determined to clear his friend s name. But powerful forces are against Ruggerio
even as Massimo brings together a group of like-minded fellow officers to right the injustice. Their efforts take them into
the seedy world of contemporary crime as it is played out on the twisted back streets and stunning vistas of Pittsburgh s
three rivers. This cop story is an action-filled pressure cooker with a poignancy rarely experienced in the genre.”

One reader of Excessive Forces, A Pittsburgh Police Thriller
said, “This book does give a real inside look at life as a police officer. I am not a cop myself, but I have a high
degree of respect for those who are. Although this book is fiction, it does educate the reader on police procedure and the
politics cops sometime have to endure. Most importantly, it is a very interesting story. I think the characters were developed
effectively and the story line was suspenseful. There are plenty of surprises along the way. Even though I mostly read true
crime stories and biographies, I really did enjoy this book. I understand the author is a retired police officer and this
is his first book. I hope he writes more in his retirement. I will be sure to read them.”
