According to the book description of
Behind and Beyond the Badge –
Volume I, "There is so much
more to a police officer’s badge, to
any badge that all first responders
wear. But that’s what the world sees,
a badge. What’s behind and beyond that
badge is what people need to know, the
person.
This book is a series of stories about
those who have done the job. Law
enforcement officers, firefighters,
EMS, dispatchers, crime scene
technicians and victim advocates. All
are what author Donna Brown calls her
“Village of First Responders.” They
talk about why they chose their
profession, the best part of their
job, their most difficult, career
defining moments and the toll the job
can take on them physically, mentally
and on their families.
A recommended read for anyone who is
considering a career as a first
responder, someone who has a family
member or spouse that’s a first
responder, police explorers and those
who doubt there are good people doing
a difficult job. Volume I won two gold
medals in nonfiction categories in the
Florida Authors and Publishers
Presidents Book Awards, a national
competition."

According to the book description of
Behind and Beyond the Badge – Volume
II, "After the overwhelming
positive response to Volume I,
award-winning author Donna Brown goes
even deeper in Volume II with the stories
of those who are doing the job and takes
you to those places that few see.
Law enforcement officers, firefighters,
EMS personnel, dispatchers, crime scene
technician and victim advocates open
their hearts and talk about what it’s
really like to do their jobs. They talk
about why they do what they do, the
hardest part of their jobs, their
favorite part, career defining moments
and the effect these jobs can have on
them physically, mentally and on their
families. They are human, just like you.
A recommended read for anyone who is
considering a career as a first
responder, someone who has a family
member or spouse that’s a first
responder, police explorers and those who
doubt there are good people doing a
difficult job.
Volume II was a finalist in the

Authors and Publishers Presidents Book
Awards, a national competition." |
