Over his final decade on the job he specialized in being a "Profiler" of arson and fire death scenes. Ed Nordskog is the author of Torchered Minds-Case histories of notorious serial arsonists, Fireraisers, Freaks, and Fiends-Obsessive arsonists in the California foothills, The Arsonist Profiles and Incendiary Devices: Investigation and Analysis.

According to the book description of Torchered Minds-Case histories of notorious serial arsonists, "The first book by an investigator to really compile true case histories of over sixty serial arsonists. This book was the basis for his later work in profiling serial arson cases. It includes famous, international cases and local ones investigated by Nordskog and his partners."

According to the book description of Fireraisers, Freaks, and Fiends-Obsessive arsonists in the California foothills, "At the urging of a Superior Court judge and a Hollywood Producer, Nordskog put together a book chronicling some of the most evil, bizarre, and obsessive arsonists he and his partners have ever investigated. These true case histories give in-depth details about the bizarre criminals that dwell within the arson world. This book is a Hollywood screenwriter's dream as the true cases often defy belief."

According to the book description of The Arsonist Profiles, "Nordskog's first book on profiling arsonists and assigning them categories and sub-categories. There are over 40 cases highlighted in this book, with a brief analysis or profile by Nordskog after each. This book is the best seller for Nordskog so far."

According to the book description of Incendiary Devices: Investigation and Analysis, "Nordskog completed a comprehensive three year study and survey that documented the used of incendiary devices in actual cases. He published his results and created this book to talk about the true history and use of improvised incendiary devices. This study and book dispelled many decades of mis-information, myths, and rumors with the bomb and arson investigation fields. Book released in January of 2019."
