Joe Taylor is from Belle Glade, Palm Beach County, Florida. He was born September 14th, 1959 and was raised there as well. After graduating from high school in 1977, and after a few different jobs, he started working with the Belle Glade Police Department which is located in Palm Beach County. He worked with Belle Glade Police Department from 1981 - 1988. In September of 1988, he started working with the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office in Quincy, Florida which is just west of Tallahassee. He was employed there as a deputy from 1988 - 1990. After a few years he then went to Havana Police Department which is in the same county, and was a patrolman there until June of 1991.

Joe Taylor left law enforcement due to injuries required throughout his career and caused him to become disabled and he soon had to retire from law enforcement. Within a few years He felt the call to the ministry in February of 1994. After Bible College and special training he received through college and his local churches he went into evangelism in 2000. Soon after felling that God want him to due with the law enforcement community.

Since then he has visited over 400+ law enforcement agencies and officers on the streets. He has covered all the states within the southeast and in December 2006 moved his ministry office to the State of Arkansas where he could be located to ministry to the Midwestern part of the United States. Even though he is located in Arkansas, several officers contact him daily about his ministry and he also goes throughout the country reaching officers for Christ.

Joe Taylor has written a book about his life in 2007 titled From The Black Gold, To The Foothills Of The Ozarks; and, also his newest book about his days as a officer titled From Badges To The Holy Bible in 2008. He is currently working on his third book about the local church, which is titled The Other Side. Joe Taylor has also put together two Bible Studies for law enforcement. The first one is a 12-week study and the second one is a single study on “the family & marriage”.

About the Havana Police Department

The town of Havana is located 14 miles north of Tallahassee.  The Havana police Department “patrol officers work 12 hour shifts, with every other weekend off.  The annual salary range for a Havana police officers is $26,000.  In addition to the annual salary, Havana police officers receive other benefits as set forth by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.”  The police station is located inside the townhall.
