About the McMinn County Sheriff’s Department
The McMinn County Sheriff’s Department employs 86 people.
There are 32 sworn personnel, 35 civilian employees and 19 reserve officers. The McMinn County Sheriff’s Department maintains the McMinn County Justice Center,
equipped to house 128 inmates. Since its construction in 1991, additional bedding
areas have been installed so that the Justice Center will now house 200 inmates. There
are thirteen housing units in the Justice Center, four are dormitory style, four are medium security and five are maximum
security. Of the thirteen housing units maintained by the McMinn County Sheriff’s
Department, only three are for female offenders.
