About the Petersburg Bureau of Police

The Petersburg Bureau of Police (Virginia) is organized into three divisions: Investigations Division; Administrative Division; and, Operations Division.  The Operations Division of the Petersburg Bureau of Police, under the command of a deputy chief of police has the major sub-units of Uniformed Patrol, Traffic Management and Animal Control.  The Investigation Division of the Petersburg Bureau of Police is under the command of a police captain and includes general investigations, forensics, document service, family trauma as well as vice and narcotics.  All the support and administrative functions of the Petersburg Bureau of Police are handled by the Administrative Division.
