The sirens sound the lights
are bright
It's another routine traffic stop
I approach the vehicle hiding behind the
light
My hand on my gun rested atop
His door opens before I can shout stay in
Three loud pops were the only sound
The man had a gun and a devilish grin
I took two to the chest and hit the ground
I shouted for backup my breath faded away
He took off and left me to die
I wondered if I'd live to see another day
Why me, why now, who was this guy?
I'm no different than he I am a human in
blue
I call on duty each day to protect people
like he and you.
