A life lay wasted – shot dead in the street;
Hidden from sight, covered by a sheet.
This story is old and too often been told.
A senseless tragedy, one to behold.
We will never know how much the world is
cheated,
By this life taken, young and uncompleted.
We do know that there will be plenty of
pain,
All because a young man was violently slain.
To explain this event and give it a why
Is useless and of all logic does defy.
Nothing said or done will bring this life
back,
But such random violent acts we must attack.
Whether violence be from gangs or drugs
We must learn how to stop these thugs.
Not an easy task but one that must be done,
Failure only means loss of more sons.
Unless we rise up against and violence
defeat,
Another life lay wasted, shot dead in the
street.
