There are men and women among the law
enforcement profession
Who perform double duty to combat
oppression.
Their day-to-day job is that of a crime
fighter
Then on select weekends they train sometimes
after pulling an all-nighter.
They take two oaths which entail to protect
and defend
Both they will honor even if it calls for
their lives to end.
They join law enforcement and the military
of their own free will
Perhaps a strong love of country they want
to fulfill.
On short notice they can transition from
civilian law enforcement;
Be dispatched to a faraway land to fulfill
military reinforcement.
They will stand beside our other brave
military personnel
On a mission to keep us safe or evil to
quell.
Thank you seems insufficient for these
warriors who carry two swords,
Whether they are at home or abroad we are
their wards.
Recognize these members of the military
reserves and National Guard;
They are warriors with two swords, patriots
to be held in the highest regard.

I dedicate this poem to those men and women
who currently serve or have served in both a
law enforcement and military component
simultaneously. You are indeed patriots.
