About the Port Saint Lucie Police Department
The Port St. Lucie Police Department was established in 1980.  Today, the Port Saint Lucie Police Department is an accredited, full-service law enforcement agency. The department has an authorized strength of 256 sworn personnel and 83 civilian employees.  The Port Saint Lucie Police Department is organized into two bureaus with a Professional Standards Unit also answering directly to the chief of police.  The Neighborhood Policing Bureau includes the uniformed patrol function as well as specialized function such as SWAT, Marine, Crisis Negotiation, accident investigations and certain administrative functions.  The Support Services Bureau includes the Criminal Investigations Division, Community Programs, Training and Fiscal Management Functions.
