Four authors added to list
February 17, 2007 (San Dimas, CA) Police-Writers.com, a website dedicated to
listing state and local police officers who have authored books, added four police officers to the list of authors: Anthony Naturale, Michael F. Mangiaracina, Russell D. Flores and David Faulkner.
Former Head of Internal Affairs of the Montclair Police Department (New Jersey) Retired Lieutenant Anthony Naturale spent a lot of time walking the beat for thirty-four years. A step into retirement allowed him the opportunity to reflect,
take pen in hand and write You’ll Never
Believe It. His book is “not just a police story, it spans bizarre
crimes peppered with humor in the home town of astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Yankee catcher Yoggi Berra, and Naturale’s neighbor,
movie star Elaine Stewart to name a few.”
Michael Mangiarancina retired as a sergeant from the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department. He has worked as a Law Enforcement Consultant for the Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training in Nevada
and served as that agency’s academy commander. In 2000, he returned to sworn law enforcement as an Adult Parole and
Probation Officer for the State of Nevada. He holds two Masters Degrees in Instruction Leadership and Educational Administration; and, has provided police training to thousands of law enforcement, correctional, probation and investigative personnel in giving testimony in civil disposition,
administrative hearings, and the courtroom.
Michael Mangiarancina’s book, Courtroom Testimony,
is “designed to be of assistance in preparation as a witness in criminal and civil cases.” It includes sections
on: “Trial Characteristics, Courtroom Attire, Courtroom Demeanor, Testifying in Court, Attorney's Trial Tactics, Sample
Testimony, Common Trial Objections and Sample Jury Instruction.”
Russell D. Flores was a Senior Deputy for the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Department. He was assigned full-time to the County Gang
Task Force, in addition to monitoring and investigating gang activity. He has testified as an expert on gangs in court and
made presentations to over 7,000 people on gangs and gang activity. Russell was also a member of the Sheriff’s Department
Special Enforcement Detail (SWAT), the California Gang Investigators Association, and the High Technology Criminal Investigators
Association. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from California Polytechnic State University, San
Luis Obispo. He is presently a Deputy Sheriff for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and is a lecturer for SEARCH Group, Inc.
His book, Gang Slanging Dictionary, is “a guide for law enforcement, emergency medical services, teachers and
parents. This fascinating volume contains over 5400 words and phrases from around the country.’ It is an important tool for understanding the gang culture in our society.
Lieutenant David Faulkner has over twenty years of law enforcement experience. He has served as a patrol officer, K-9 officer, traffic officer, filed
training officer, detective, Multiple Enforcement Team (M.E.T.) Unit supervisor, traffic detective and field sergeant. He
has a degree in criminal justice and is currently employed as a full-time Police officer with the Fontana Police Department in California. He teaches Basic and Intermediate Traffic Accident Investigation course for the San Bernardino County Advanced
Officer Training Center.
His book, Collision Investigation for the Patrol Officer, is written “to familiarize students and officers with
the fundamentals of collision investigation.”
