The Quincy Police Department "receives approximately 65,000 calls for service each year and makes an average of 2000 arrests each year. This Department serves a population of 100,000 people in an area of 26.5 square miles."  It is a full-service law enforcement organization which employs one chief of police, four captains, 14 lieutenants, 30 sergeants, 143 patrol officers and 38 civilian employees.
