The Rockwall
County Sheriff’s Office is organized into three divisions: Enforcement Division; Detention Division; and, Administrative
Division. The Enforcement Division of the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office
includes the Patrol Section which currently provides police services to three incorporated cities and all unincorporated areas
within Rockwall County. The Patrol Section is responsible for all initial investigations from minor traffic infractions to
major crime scenes. The Criminal Investigations
Division with in the Enforcement Division of the Rockwall County Sheriff's office is staffed by two Detectives. Their duties
include: Follow-up on field officer reports; Filing cases with the District Attorney's Office; Internal Affairs Investigations;
Coordinating Warrant Service and Tactical Operations; Crime scene reconstruction; Processing evidence through the property
room; Assisting with other Law Enforcement Agencies throughout the state and country; Maintain Sex Offender Registration Files;
Coordinate training for departments.
The Rockwall
County Sheriff's Posse is an organization of volunteers whose goal is to assist the Sheriff with chores related to providing
safety when animals stray onto roadways, patrolling the parking lot during high school activities and other services. They
also participate in community events such as the Christmas parade, Spring Baseball parade and the 4th of July parade as well
as the Fort Worth Stock Show parade where they won First Place in January of 2000.
